It maybe change with each music video, this maybe because of the lyrics in the song or how they want to be seen by the audience and who there target audience is.The representation of an artist within a music video is essential to build up the image that the artist and the record label are aiming for to create a representation that will become popular and recognisable with the audience. It is an image that is used to express the artist t the audience in a particular way within a music video or on an album cover etc. the importance of the image is to create a relationship between the artist and the audience, it is also important for the artist to become and idol for his or her fans. In my music video we are not having our artist in our video instead our music video is a narrative of teenagers going round london partying with the concept of friendship and drink being the main theme. Our characters are going to be normal teenagers in jeans and shirts who are going to clubs getting drunk and being lost and driving around London. This could help the audience think this is the type of life our artist lives, the image of partying is a common theme found in Calvin Harris' music videos so this music video is going to follow this theme. The choice of clothing for our artist is very conventional of the dance genre, the plain and basic image is used by artists to create that indifference with the audience and increase the relationship between the two. It also conforms with the conventions as dance music is all about the music rather than the artist.Our audience will be able to build a relationship with our artist as they target audience is around the age where they want to go out and have fun at clubs so by seeing this music video they will think Calvin Harris lives a similar lifestyle, which helps the audience feel closer to the artist. Our artist representation is conventional to our music genre as we are giving an image of an artist who enjoys partying and drink, which is commonly found in the dance music genre.
