Digipaks typically consist of a gatefold (book style) paperboard or cardboard outer binding, with one or more plastic trays for the cd. Digipak style packaging is often used for cd singles or special editions of cd albums. Digipak style cases grew in popularity among record labels and recording artists in the early 2000's. Digipaks are a lot better than CD'S for fans as Digipak's contain higher quality images and meaning in them, these also include a personal message from the artist to the fans this makes the audience feel closer to the artist as it gives a more personal feel. The Digipak has 6 sides this means there is more opportunity for visible pictures, information and promotions than there is on a CD. This helps the artist to attract fans to buy this productas the Digipak is more than just a disc with songs on it, it is actually more meaningful to the fans.
The digipak is conventional to the genre as it has the background of the party scenes on the front cover. The audience will clearly be able to see that the front cover will be able to represent the party scene and they will be able to relate to this background as it was taken from a scene in the music video. Colours are a major element for my digipak as it will attract a wider target audience. The main objective of using lively colours is to catch the eye of potential buyers and ultimately conform to the genre of dance music. The use of bright colours is evident on my digipak on all of the pages. It highlights the the audience that the artist is confident which suggests his music is original and appealing. The use of bright colours are also used to represent the use of coloured tints and lighting stereo-typically used within a dance location such as a club or a rave. This can obviously be seen on the front cover where the use of blue has the effect of a strobe light. Bright colours are also used as a way to lift the emotions of the buyers, colourful images automatically put the buyers and target audience in a good mood. Exciting colours also reflect the emotions that are created by the music, the dance music genre excites the target audience who are into the feel good factor and remaining excited when listening to the songs, the use of colour just highlights to the target audience what style of music will be on the album. Colours are also passionate a fresh, which would appeal to the audience as it indicates the music is original and new. The fact that the colour black is used is primarily for effect and to make the colours stand out brighter.

Individual Magazine advert- Mrs Miller
The purpose of a magazine advert is to promote the artist to their target audience. It will make the audience want to see more of him and if the artists advert appeals to the target audience then they will will want to buy more of his songs and albums. If the magazine advert appeals to the audience then they will also want to see him in his concert as they feel like they may have a connection with him, as the artist stereotypically stares at the audience to make it look like they are looking at the audience. I want my magazine advert to be relatable and help fans to feel closer to my artist.Through my research on other magazine posters I understand that colours, lighting and the representation of the artist is needed in order for the target audience to be attracted to the song and the album. The research allowed me to understand what elements are needed in order to make a good magazine advert for a dance music video.
I feel that my magazine advert is very conventional to the dance genre. I feel it is conventional to the genre in a variety of ways, one of these is the use of bright colours. The use of bright colours replicate the strobe lights that you would expect to see in a club environment. Through using these strobe light type colours the audience will be able to see that the album is from the dance genre, meaning it is more likely to attract its target audience. Furthermore I believe that the images included in my magazine advert make it conventional to the genre; the image I have used is of our artist looking directly down the camera wearing sunglasses and a plain t-shirt which makes you focus on him.. Both of these pieces of iconography are conventional to the dance genre as you often see DJ's with sunglasses staring at the camera. The layout of my magazine advert was important as I didn't want to clutter it as I felt that could deter the target audience, so I decided to try to make it as bare as possible. I decided to therefore only include information about the name of the album, the release date and what songs will feature. I placed the information about the album in the centre of the magazine advert as I felt it would stand out most here and attract the target audience. I wanted my artists image to be in the centre to make him stand out and be the main focus. I used two different fonts in my magazine advert. The first I used was for the name of the album. As you can see it is much larger than the other font as I wanted to make the name of the album stand out the most as the whole idea of the advert is to promote the album. I feel that the font used for the album name is appropriate as it is conventional to the dance genre as it looks edgy and stands out. The other font that I used was for the additional information about the album and as you can see it is very original and bold. I feel that this contrasts well with the diverse font used for the album name.
Furthermore the bold font used for the additional information means that it will also stand out although it is in a smaller font. The use of bright colours is evident on my magazine advert. It highlights to the audience that the artist is confident which suggests his music is original and appealing. Colours are also passionate a fresh, which would appeal to the audience as it indicates the music is original and new. I put the artists image fading into the clouds as this is to symbol the music will take you to another place the lens flare also has a tantalizing feel to it to make the magazine advert look more attractive to look at.

Initial group planning ideas- Miss Georgiou
My group member is James Barry. In my first meeting we discussed what songs we could use for our own music video we also discussed what music genre our music video was going to be. We chose electronic/dance to be our music genre and our song we chose was 'Blame' by Calvin Harris Feat John Newman. We made a mind map coming up with all our ideas we wanted to include in our music video. As a group we were thinking to use songs such as "sun don't shine" by Sonnentanz, also we were thinking of using 'Rather be' by Clean Bandit. We discussed whether we wanted to base the song on either a relationship, friendship or family, in order to make the music video realistic. As a group we had felt the song blame was a good song to make a music video as we could play with the narrative and could use fast paced shots for the beat drops. When we decided what genre and song we were going to use we printed off the lyrics and their me and james both put forward our ideas of what we wanted to use, we straight away agreed we wanted a narrative with the concept of friendship, after going through the lyrics we believed the best narrative was going to be the group of friends being dead after a car crash and they are blaming their death on the night, the video will show the crash at the beginning of the video then it will rewind and show what the boys had done all that night, which is going out partying and drinking. Before we could begin filming this narrative we first had to apply for copyright so we could legally use the song in our music video we done this by emailing Calvin Harris' record label.
To gain inspiration as a group we researched other dance music videos and saw from this it is conventional to use party scenes when we saw this we knew we wanted this to be the main shots for our music video. To help with the planning of the music video on an A3 paper to look at the different elements we were going to use for our music video- Mise-en scene and location are both extremely imprtant elements in our music video as we are using a lot of iconography such as smoke bombs and fireworks and a car. The location for our music video is set in clubs and concerts around London and shows the group of friends having a good time. We felt for cinematography that a lot of point of view shots were important to use especially for the party scenes as it helps engage the audience with the artist as they are seeing the artists lifestyle through his own eyes, this shot is commonly found in dance music videos along with wide shots which we are also going to use. To help make everything go straightforward we made a risk assessment and filming schedule, this was to help make us film our video quickly and coherent- we did follow our storyboards for most of it but did change certain shots the filming schedule helped with the production of the film as we managed to do this very successfully as by planning evrything properly my group had a clear idea of what we wanted to achieve from filming our music videos.
As part of our planning my group had group meetings to help us plan our music video. Group meetings and discussions are important for a music video as they help the group to discuss and decide on elements they would want to use within our music video. We can look at the different elements such as editing techniques, camera shots and iconography etc, and make a decision what we are going to use within our music video to make it as good as we can. It allows the group to have a input with how we are going to create our music video and what features and conventions are going to be included within it. It is important that all of the group have a say and can actually contribute to that making of the music video. I believe our group of me and james worked well together and managed to plan our music video successfully, which made it easier for us to produce.

photo shoot Miss Miller
It is important to carry out a photo shoot, especially when creating a digipak and magazine advert because you can take a number of shots and pick which one you think the best is that gives you a lot of options and you will be able to get inspirations from each one. You could even use part of one and join it in with another one. The digipaks and magazine adverts are an important part of our coursework so it is vital that we get the correct shots in the photo shoot otherwise it would be a waste of time. My image will be used on the music advert because as our song comes under the genre of dance and as I have a photo of me dancing I therefore, thought it would be best to use it as the music advert. The music advert is where your going to get the audiences attention it needs to be lively and stand out from the rest if it is going to succeed. By it standing out creates attention and leads to the audience wanting to listening to the song, audiences don't want to look at bland and blunt music adverts because it wont entise them to have a look or listen to it. By the audience listening to the song generates sales for the company.
We took several pictures of our artist, locations or objects that we came across whilst we were carrying out our filming. The pictures that we took will be used for both our album magazine advert and our digipak, therefore it was important to take variety of different images also using different camera angles so that we had more choice. The digipak includes four images itself therefore we needed a wide range of images so that we did not become repetitive or boring, using different angles also added a professional effect to show that we know the different influences each angle represents. The clothing in the different shots is simple, with him pictured wearing plain coloured t shirts. The effect of this, rather than showing him in fancy designer clothing, was to make him seem more relatable to the audience and also more humble, not flash. This in turn could encourage people to listen to his music as they can see he is not just a show off, and is not flash like many other artists. All our photos are showing the artist staring right at the camera to the artist this helps make a connection as the fans feel they are closer to them. We found for the dance music genre that the photo shoots are kept simple with the emphasis being on the video and music so we have follwed with this theme and from our research we found this was commonly used. With our simple photos we managed to use them on photoshop and edit them to look like they belong to the dance video genre. By having the same picture but different clothes makes the DJ have a cloud of mystery with no facial expressions except for staring straight at the camera to the audience this makes the audience want to find more out about him as he comes across mysterious.

Filming schedule
Afilming schedule is a project plan of each day's shooting for a film production. It is normally created and managed by the assistant director. The schedule represent a timeline stating where and when production resources are used, this important when planning to film a music video as it allows us to be organised and time efficient. Having information that informs us when and what we have to film will be very useful as we have limited time to film our music video considering we have two different locations to film at and plenty of footage to record. The more time efficient we are, the more time we have to edit our music video and make it as good as we can, we will also have more time incase we need to re film scenes due to any mistakes or changes we want to make.

Risk Assessment- Miss Georgiou
To help our filming schedule process go quickly and successfully my groupthought about what might harm ourselves as group members and also pedestrians surrounding us and also the reasonable and relevant steps that would help to prevent the risks and any harm they may cause. By considering all possible risks and the prevention methods put in place before filming will help us save a lot of valuable time when filming as without injury all the scenes will be able to be filmed on schedule. Setting up precautions to take whilst filming will help us be more organised when filming as well as making me more aware of the extra props, behind the scenes that are needed to ensure peoples safety. For example, as a result of the risk assessment table I now know we need to buy gaffer tape to secure down leads and bring towels to filming to stop any water falling on the floor.
I feel that the risk assessment was highly beneficial as all of the group members became aware of risks that they may not have thought of previously. It prevented any accidents happening to group members and pedestrians whilst we were filming.

Music video storyboards-Miss Georgiou
The purpose of a story board is to create a more realistic feel for your narrative. It helps the narrative come to life and highlights if theres any errors in my videos plot and if any shots are unrealistic. It also allows me to create a time frame onto each shot so I can have a better understanding as to whether I need to edit or lengthen my storyboard and scene. Each of the frames contain information of how i want my want my shots to come out of and included camera shots, location, iconography, lighting, lighting, actors, sound, editing and narrative information. After giving out this description I then drew a picture which links with the description I have written and gives an idea of what the scene will hopefully look like.
I found creating a story board very useful as it help me visualise my ideas and help them come to life. This gives me an overall idea of where I would want the actor to be positioned and what mise-en-scene I would want to be present in each clip. This will help when creating a group story board as our ideas will be easier to explain and demonstrate to the group, meaning decisions can be made quickly as to whether or not we would want to take the idea any further and incorporate it into our final story board.

The audience will clearly be able to see that the front cover will be able to represent the party scene and they will be able to relate to this background as it was taken from a scene in the music video. The photos are conventional also as James will be standing staring at the camera with his party glasses on this will attract the audience as it will look like he is staring directly at them. The colours that i have used are conventional as i have carried on the theme all the way through the music video, poster and now the digipak. It brings all of the three together and allows the audience to relate to the song all the way through these three. The target audience will be able to build a relationship with the target audience as they will be able to understand how James is living a party lifestyle, which most of our fans will want to live. The digipak will be very simple with bright strobe lights on every side to show the audience it is from the dance music genre. I will include a personal message to the fans to make the digipak more relatable and the typography will be a funky electronic font to show the audience clearly this album is dance music. There is 6 songs on the album and an additional 2 bonus songs added as part of a advantage of the digipak, the bonus tracks will be written in more noticeable font to show their significance of being special. The layout of the track listings will be in the middle of the back page so that the presentation is conventional to a normal CD/Digipak.
This draft will assist my group in making the decision of choosing a digipak for the group as i will know that i will be looking for in the others digipak, in which i like on mine and then what i would like to change in order for our group to chose the best digipak we can.I found planning my digipak useful as it allowed me to evaluate all of my decisions and from this I can decide what elements I wish to change or tweak for example the colours, images or font. I am more aware of what images to include within my digipak as it has allowed me to focus on how I want my artist to be represented and how I can reach my target audience by being conventional to the genre.

Planning editing styles-Miss Georgiou
Editing is important within a music video as it puts together all the different types of shots and it makes them have an effect. For example rather than just putting straights cuts in a shot, a more effective shot would be a fade. As it would give more meaning to the shot and show the emotions of the people in the music video rather than just using loads of straights cuts. Using colour filters as effects will make a shot seem more effective to an audience such as having a black and white scene for a dance seen i feel would be more effective than having a colourful scene.
The first editing style that we are going to use within our music video is going to be fast editing when we set the scene for the music video. We are going to use fast editing for the London scenery as we feel this will make the location seem more effective and the target audience will understand that London is actually a big city. This editing style is conventional to our dance genre as it will explain that the world is moving quickly when the boys are out having a good time and then when we see them on the bench at it go back to normal to show that the night is over. The target audience would be able to understand that people do not care about what is happening in the real world when they are having a good time in a bar. They will be able to relate to this as they would have experienced this when they have been out or been on holiday.
The second editing technique that we are going to use in our music video is going to be slow editing. This will occur when we want the audience to think the boys are drunk; the slow editing will show the feeling the boys are feeling and possibly suggest that the main character is under the influence of alcohol or possibly drugs. We felt this gave the video quite a unique feel and by not particularly conforming to the genre stereotypes made the video more attractive to viewers. This will be used to represent the artist within the music video. This is conventional as in music videos they artists are shown to have party lifestyles and by showing them as drunk can help relate them to the audience who also like to party, so that the audience know who the song is by.The audience would then be able to relate to his songs as they would have been in a club setting when listening to it, stereotypically under the influence of alcohol.
The third editing style that we will include in our music video will be a fade in and out. This will be evident when the boys get off of the bench. This has been used to show that the night is officially over and that they are moving back into the real life and working world. This is conventional as people would forget about their worries ion the real world and just want to live for the moment when they are in a club setting. They would not care about what is happening in their work or academic life they would just want to enjoy themselves. The target audience would be able to relate to this as they would have been put in a situation where they would have would have forgot about their worries that they have had and they would just want to live for that moment and that place. Another editing style I am going to use is Jump-cuts as these are a conventional editing style used within almost all genres but especially dance, they are used for the purpose of switching immediately and subtly between the narratives. We are using jump-cuts to move from one setting to another within the storyline, for example we will switch from a calm shot of the friends together in a car travelling around london and when the beat drops we will jump cut to a club scene and keep cutting to different shots in the club this is conventional and commonly found in dance music videos. The jump-cut aims to avoid the audience from waiting or being confused between the transitions of scenes as well as making them run smoothly and professionally. The jump cuts will follow the beat of the music and help make the music video more entertaining.
The final editing technique that we are going to use in our music video will be a straight cut. This is when the shot will cut from the establishing shot of London to the foot steps of the working people which will show that it is the morning and the boys have just woke up on a park bench and they do not know where they are. This is conventional as in Dance music videos the shots change really quickly to show a new meaning or explain what is happening in the shot. This will then explain to the target audience that the boys are in London and that they are waking up in a the morning and people are going to work. Another editing technique is to add an effect of flashing lights across the screen this will follow the conventions of a dance music video, which usually contains bright flashing colours, the flashing light effect will give a feel that the audience are in a club, which will make it more entertaining for the audience.

Planning Magazine Advert- Miss Miller
For my magazine advert, through my research I have realised that it is pivotal for the artist to be the main centre of attention, to do this I am going to use my artists image in the centre of the advert looking right at the audience this is to make the fans feel my artist is staring right at them, which will make it more personal, also by having my artists image as the main focus point it will attract people who are already fans as they will see the CD is about Calvin Harris. We are going to use a black and white image for our artists face and Photoshop a disco styled bright coloured pair of glasses onto his face, this will make our artist stand out and also make the magazine advert look unique and different to fans, which will hopefully attract the audience. By using a bright coloured pair of disco glasses onto our artist face it will show our audience the type of music genre our music is, it also follows the conventions of the dance music genre. Our artists name is going to be above our artists face at the top of the poster and this will be in bright colours, our whole advert will be bright colours except for the artists face, which is black and white this is to give the advert a feel that our artist is in a club with dark lighting and his glasses and bright typography gives the audience the feel of strobe lighting and uv paint. The colours that I have used are conventional to my song and music video as these are the core colours that are used throughout our music video and i wanted to carry this on throughout our magazine advert. The artists image will be one of a party lifestyle, which follows the conventions of the dance music genre especially for DJ'S who are commonly promoted as living a lavish party lifestyle. I will put a glow around the font to make the date, group and production company stand out more to the background and the pictures and this would be the first thing that the audience look at, which would therefore promote the album and artist. The use of bright colours will stand out over the dark background this will attract audiences eyes as it will look physically attractive. The layout for an advert is important in order to catch the eye. It is important that the advert is not cluttered with information as it could put someone off reading it. I decided to layout my main title 'Calvin Harris' at the top of the advert. I felt that this was the best position for the artists name as it allows space on the rest of the advert for the rest of the information. I also feel that placing the title at the top makes it clear to see for the readers and also does not interfere with the main images on the magazine advert.
To conclude, the research I took into a magazine advert was very helpful as it enabled me to see how artists appeal to their target audience and get there albums out there. This has helped me in creating my own magazine advert.

Digipak- Miss Miller
This helps the artist to attarct fans to buy this productas the Digipak is more than just a disc with songs on it, it is actually more meaningful to the fans.
My next digipak is from David Gueeta, I chose to analyse this digipak as it is from the same genre of the music video I am doing and that is electronic/dance. The artist on the digipak is represented by the bright colours as he normally uses strobe lighting when he is Dj'ing at a club. This is conventional to the artist as it shows that his music is going to be upbeat and vibrant for the club setting. The connotations of the digipak are to make sure that the artist stands out with the colourful theme that he is using. He stands out as his picture is in black and white and the music on his album is in bright colours, which makes his music seem to stand out more than him. The colours makes the artist and his music stand out as he is in black and white, which shows that he is original when playing his music, but then the music is in bright yellow and red colours which makes his music seem that it is positive and dance based. The design of the digipak is simple as it has a contrast on his face as it is in black and white, which shows that he is old fashioned but his music is new. His music slide is plain so the audience can clearly see what is on the CD. the audience can easily identify what music is on the album. The image that he has used for himself makes him look like he is Superior and that he is dressed for when he is in a club scene as he is wearing sun glasses to protect him from the strobe lights to help him concentrate while in the club. The type of typography that has been used is his own logo for the writing for his name, but for the name of the album different street writing has been used to make the name of the album and song stands out. The style of language that has been used is simple to make the audience be able to understand what is on the Digipak and what the album is called. The digipak promotes the dance music genre as it has the bright colours that are normally used for strobe lighting are used for the album. The artists look dark and mysterious that makes the audience want to know more about the artist, which will make them attracted to him
Overall this research into these two Digipaks have helped me a lot as they are both from the same music genre I am doing, I can clearly see that both Digipaks have followed the conventions of the dance music genre so I will do the same with bright colours and a futuristic/technological look. Both Digipaks are not over complicated aswell, they are both clear and concise which I believe makes it look more appealling to the fans. My Digipak will be more like David Guetta's digipak that Daft Punk's one as I will use an artists image on the face of the digipak as I believe a digipak is to helps the fans relate and feel closer to the artist so it is essential to include the artists image, I feel fans can not relate to daft punks digipak as well as fans can relate to David Guetta's one as their is no use of artist image so fans could feel distant.
This is daft punks digipack their music is electronic/dance. The digipak has bright colours such as yellow to stand out over the black. The layout looks very technological and looks like the inside of a micro chip, this is to show their music is very computerised. The lyrics are white on a black background this is to make it stands out. The typography of 'Human after all' shows the audience that they think their work is so good and creative that it could not have been made by humans but they are reassuring their fans they are actually human after all. The connotations of the electronic look and bright colours of yellow and purple show the music is futuristic and dance music, you would tend to find this music playing at a dance club. Digipaks help the fans feel closer to the artist. The typography throughout the Digipak for daft punk looks cool and futuristic this is to relate to their audience who are also young and into technology it also shows the audience what type of music genre they are from and that is electronic/dance. This Digipak follows the conventions of dance music as it looks very electronic, the computerized feel accompanied by lyrics and personal messages will also make the fans feel this Digipak is much more enjoyable to buy than a CD as the fans will feel closer to Daft Punk and have a greater knowledge of their music.

Planning artist image- Miss georgiou
An artist representation is essential as it helps build a strong relationship. An artist image is important because it is what they are seen as by the audience. It maybe change with each music video, this maybe because of the lyrics in the song or how they want to be seen by the audience and who there target audience is.The representation of an artist within a music video is essential to build up the image that the artist and the record label are aiming for to create a representation that will become popular and recognisable with the audience. It is an image that is used to express the artist t the audience in a particular way within a music video or on an album cover etc. the importance of the image is to create a relationship between the artist and the audience, it is also important for the artist to become and idol for his or her fans. In my music video we are not having our artist in our video instead our music video is a narrative of teenagers going round london partying with the concept of friendship and drink being the main theme. Our characters are going to be normal teenagers in jeans and shirts who are going to clubs getting drunk and being lost and driving around London. This could help the audience think this is the type of life our artist lives, the image of partying is a common theme found in Calvin Harris' music videos so this music video is going to follow this theme. The choice of clothing for our artist is very conventional of the dance genre, the plain and basic image is used by artists to create that indifference with the audience and increase the relationship between the two. It also conforms with the conventions as dance music is all about the music rather than the artist. Our audience will be able to build a relationship with our artist as they target audience is around the age where they want to go out and have fun at clubs so by seeing this music video they will think Calvin Harris lives a similar lifestyle, which helps the audience feel closer to the artist. Our artist representation is conventional to our music genre as we are giving an image of an artist who enjoys partying and drink, which is commonly found in the dance music genre.
Research into record label - Miss Georgiou
Major record Labels:
Large companies within the music industry that may also own smaller record labels.
The two major labels in the UK currently are Universal Music Group and Sony Music Entertainment.
Universal Music Group artists:

Universal Music Group own:
Sony are a film company as well this gives these artists a wider target audience as their songs can be played in sony films, this helps get their music better coverage, this is the same with Universal as they are a film company as well, by having all these markets to target it helps artists under major record labels to achieve more views with them receiving more funding to produce better quality videos and songs. The company signed a content deal with the popular video sharing community being Youtube. This allowed the company to promote their music videos on Youtube and be able to impress the target audience. They also have a website which is songbmr.com, this promotes their artists and allows them to show the audience when their albums are being release etc. The universal music group are linked with Vevo as they co-developed them. This allows for free, ad-supported streaming of music video and other music content. They also have a website which allows them to promote their artists by telling the public when their evens or singles are being released.

Independent Record Label:
Music labels
that operate one or a few music labels. Independent labels can be just as successful but
operate from a smaller company base. They are traditionally known as offering
more ‘organic’ music rather than manufactured music. An independent record label is a music label that may own one record label or very few. This record label will receive no funding and will operate purely on money which is raised by the label itself. Budgets for music videos from independent record labels may be smaller than that of major labels due to the funding from other organisations that major labels receive. However independent labels can be just as successful as major labels as up and coming artist generally start out in smaller companies and branch out when they become more well known. Independent record labels can be very successful and generally include artists from the indie and punk genre for example Rough Trade who have artists such as The Libertines and Arcade Fire.
Dreamboat Records is a British independent music label based in Bristol, England. The label was founded in 2005, and released records on a small scale for a group of local artists. In 2009 it expanded to include releases of independent film soundtracks. Artists signed to this label are The Rollercoaster project, Robin Allender, This is Kit, Bear in Heaven and Whalebone Polly.
FM Records and Revolver Records were two labels in common ownership that came together to form FM Revolver in the 1980s. The FM label presented itself as FM Records, FM Coast to Coast, FM Dance and FM Revolver. The label was distributed by BMG Ariola Munich and in the UK by BMG until 1991. FM artists included Adam Bomb, Asia, Atom Seed, Babe Ruth, Cloven Hoof, Dark Star, Jack Green, James Young, King Kobra, Lisa Dominique, The Macc Lads, Marino, Multi-story, Pet Hate, Rough Trade, Sofia Rotaru, Steve Gaines, Tobruk, Torino, Tradia, UFO, White Sister and Wrathchild
Native Records is a small British independent record label formed in Sheffield, England. The label was founded by Kevin Donoghue in 1985, after he left RCA Records. In 2006, Native formed its own distribution company Indie distribution. Native Records artists are Undercurrent, OneUnder, PLMB, Waiting For June, ReVerbed, The Talk, Girl Spit, Lee Foster, Pimp Sneekerz, B Troop and Various Production.
By researching into different record labels, I have gained an insight into how record labels progress within the music industry and how their artists and music benefit really from being signed to a major label. We feel that our chosen artist and song would be signed to a independent label due to its Indie genre and niche target audience. I think that it is not fair that the music industry is dominated by four companies as big artists would only want to sign to these labels as they feel they would get noticed a lot more than being signed to an independent company. If a well-known artist was to sign to a independent record label it would give that record label a financial boost and more artist will follow. This has a negative effect on this industry as people do not care about the smaller companies they just worry about the bigger on and the artists singed to the bigger record labels. The independent record labels are not as a success as the major labels as they do not have any well known artists signed to them, they do are not known to the public and so are their artists. The independent record labels do offer new and fresh artists that no one has heard of before which might get noticed by the major record labels.
