The target audience for our music video will be teenagers and they can relate to this video as the narrative of arguing will be familiar to our target audience. The conventions I am going to use are slow editing and fast editing, at first there is slow tempo to the lyrics with the song being very emotional, this will be matched with slow editing and when the tempo of the song goes quicker during the middle we are going to use fast editing. The fast pace of the editing goes against the emotional lyrics. Our lyrics have no hidden meanings as it is clear to see the lyrics are emotional with words like guilt and sorry and don't blame it on me keep being repeated through out the song. The lyrics 'Can't be sleeping' shows the artist is so stressed he can't sleep- we will show this in our music video with him being stressed. We are going to start the video off with a boy and girl arguing in a house then the boy will storm out angrily and head to his car. The camera will be on top of the car and follow where he is driving, the boy will keep driving showing he is lost in his heart and feels sorry and guilty. We followed the Goodwin theory the Goodwin theory is where there is a succinct relationship between music and visuals our music video will match the emotion and tempo of our lyrics, which is emotional and slow paced. The lyrics are below and you can see there is a constant use of emotional words.
Can't be sleeping,
Keep on waking
Without the woman next to me
Guilt is burning
Inside I'm hurting
This ain't a feeling I can keep
So, blame it on the night
Don't blame it on me
Don't blame it on me
Blame it on the night
Don't blame it on me
Don't blame it on me
Blame it on the night
Don't blame it on me
Don't blame it on me
So, blame it on the night
Don't blame it on me
Don't blame it on me
Don't blame it on me
[Instrumental]
Can't you see it, I was manipulated
I had to let her through the door
I had no choice in this
I was the friend she missed,
She needed me to talk
So, blame it on the night
Don't blame it on me
Don't blame it on me
So, blame it on the night
Don't blame it on me
Don't blame it on me
Blame it on the night
Don't blame it on me
Don't blame it on me
So, blame it on the night
Don't blame it on me
Don't blame it on me
Don't blame it on me
Oh I'm so sorry, so sorry baby
(I'll be better this time)
I will be better this time
I got to say
I'm so sorry
Oh I promise
(I'll be better this time
I'll be better this time)
Don't blame it on me!
Don't blame it on me!
You have made a start in considering the hidden meanings of your chosen song and it is clear to see that you have considered a narrative for your production. However, the narrative needs to be explored in a lot more detail, by explaining what will be seen, the style of the production, explanation of how you will follow the dance conventions and how your production will appeal to your target audience.
