We are going to use a panning shot to set the scene for the music video. This is going to be over the river Thames and we will are going to focus on the famous land marks such as London eye and big Ben. This shot is conventional to the song that we are using in our scene as it relates to the boys partying around london and the audience will understand that London is a big place and will be familiar with it and will recognize all the places they are partying at. The audience would have experienced this party lifestyle aswell and we are going to use this in the music video to make the boys seem as if they do not know where they are but they're having a good time with alcohol. This shot will portray to the audience that the boys do not understand what has gone on in the night before and that they just want to go home after a night out, this is where they all get in the car and have a car accident, the car accident will be shot in a POV shot to make it more realistic and dramatic for the viewers. The audience would be able to build a relationship through the camera shot as they would be able to understand what the boys have gone through.
The second camera shot that we are going to use within our music video is going to be a low angle close up on the feet of the public who are walking to work. This is conventional as it relates to the night out that the boys had before and it relates to the alcohol as they do not understand what has happened the night before and how they ended up lost, and they have woke up in the morning after in a city where people are going to work which shows it is the morning. It protrays to the audience that the boys have ended up lost after a night out and they have work up when people are walking past going to work, it shows the difference between a party lifestyle and a working lifestyle. It builds a relationship as the audience would be able to understand the difference between a working and party lifestyle and that the boys are going to have to chose which route they want to go down.
The third camera shot we are going to use in the music video is going to be a close up on the can of beer, this will have the logo on the bottle. This is conventional as it alcohol is stereotypcially linked to a clubs and dance scene and therefore this will relate to the dance genre of the song. This camera shot will protray that the boys have been drinking alcohol all night and that they have managed to get them self lost while drunk in the city of London. The audience would be able to build a relationship as they will be able to understand that when people are really drunk they do not understand where they are going and they can easily get lost in a big city like London.
Another camera shot that I am going to be analysis is a mid-shot, of the boys sitting on the bench in London trying to understand what has gone on the night before. This is conventional people who live a party and dance lifestyle get drunk and they boys are trying to realise how they got to the bench. This portrays that the boys have had a night where they have had a few to many drinks and managed to get themselves lost. The target audience would be at the age where they would be able to understand how alcohol works and when people drink too much they do not understand what is going on. The audience would have experienced this as they are at the age where they would drink when they are listening to this kind of dance music.
My cinematography is conventional to my music genre because the editing goes from slow paced to high paced which you see a lot in dance music videos because the dancing always varies at one point. The dancing can be very lively and energetic but then can change suddenly to prolonged exaggerated dancing which involves the slow paced editing therefore, i believe the contrast from slow to fast paced editing works well for my music video. Also the high and low shots work well because sometimes the artists in dance videos are on stage therefore, the high shot shows they have got power and shows they are the main person in the video this is what the man in our music video we created is being portrayed as.It builds a relationship with the target audience because it reels the viewer in to what is going on. The shots that we have filmed are supposed to be dramatic and leave the viewer on the edge of their seats e.g. when the car crash happens we want to leave them wanting to know weather they died or survived. Also we want to create tension when the shots are being filmed as if it is actually happening this all builds a relationship with the audience and they will hopefully find the music video interesting and explaining the story that we have created or might find it totally boring and unconventional.
This post demonstrates some planning techniques. You have considered the purpose of cinematography elements well and have focused on the effect that you will want to create well.
ReplyDeleteNow you need to relate your explanations back to your lyrics, to demonstrate further understanding of why you have selected to use certain shots in your production.
